Injuries reported in Louisiana chemical plant blast, report says

Injuries are reported after an explosion Thursday morning at a chemical plant southeast of Baton Rouge, La., Fox8Live.com reports.

The number of injuries at the Williams Companies Inc. Olefins plant is not immediately clear, but a few people were seen being taken by ambulances from the plant, the report said.

A fire reportedly broke out at the plant located in the town of Geismar. The town is about 20 miles southeast of Baton Rouge. The company's website says the plant puts out about 1.3 billion pounds of ethylene and 90 million pounds of polymer grade propylene a year.
