GETTYSBURG, Pa. – People visiting Gettysburg for the 150th anniversary of the Civil War's pivotal battle will get to see a famous attraction the way it looked in the late 1800s.
The Gettysburg Cyclorama underwent a $15 million restoration to repair more than a century's worth of serious damage.
Restorers also hung the huge in-the-round painting in the way that it was originally intended: concave in the middle to heighten the feeling of being in Pickett's Charge during the Battle of Gettysburg.
National Park Service officials say people who haven't seen the cyclorama in a while will be amazed at the difference. The painting is also in a new building and has a light and sound show that adds to the experience.
