Student in custody after standoff inside Ohio high school, police say

An armed student is in custody after a standoff with police inside an Ohio high school, police say.

A Toledo Public Schools spokesman told the Toledo Blade that the student had isolated himself Monday morning inside a classroom at Scott High School.

Police said the gunman is 15 years old, the newspaper reported. There were no reports of injuries, and the suspect has been taken into custody, Toledo Police announced on their Twitter account.

Negotiators went inside the school to talk to the student, Toledo News Now reports. The district said students inside the building are safe, but they would not be released until the situation is over.

Toledo police are expected to hold a press conference soon to provide more details.
