COVINGTON, Ky. –
DEVELOPING:
Authorities say a military veteran has barricaded himself inside a home in northern Kentucky and police are trying to get him to surrender peacefully.
Covington Police Chief Spike Jones said Sunday morning authorities have had discussions with the man and the chief is optimistic about their talks.
Jones did not want to talk about whether there was anyone else in the home or release many details. The chief says he doesn't want to say anything to jeopardize the situation.
Authorities responded to a call about 4 p.m. Saturday about a man in emotional distress at the house.
Police have cordoned off an area around the home and they are asking people to stay away from windows.
The standoff is in Latonia, which is less than 10 miles south of Cincinnati.
